Barondes Morris Design is a full-service interior design firm specializing in custom residential projects and new construction homes. We collaborate closely with architects, builders, and artisans to create refined spaces with a deep understanding of how people live.
We are seeking a Junior Interior Designer who is organized, detail-oriented, and eager to contribute to all phases of design, from concept to installation, while growing within our collaborative team.
The ideal candidate is energetic, self-motivated, resourceful, and highly organized — someone who thrives both independently and collaboratively and brings strong follow-through to each project. This role requires a balance of creativity, technical precision, and organization, assisting the Principals through all phases of the design process.
Key Responsibilities
Responsibilities may vary by project and will include supporting the Principals across multiple phases of design and project management.
Concept Phase
- Contribute to conceptual sketches, source materials and finishes, and prepare floor plans.
- Assist in developing client budgets, design options, and presentation materials.
- Collaborate with the Principals to refine and implement design concepts.
- Independently design spaces under supervision.
Project Management
- Set up and manage new client files, project systems, schedules, and documentation.
- Prepare furniture, lighting, and window treatment schedules.
- Generate and track quotes, orders, and deliveries to ensure accuracy and deadlines.
Client Meetings (On- and Off-Site)
- Accompany Principals to client meetings and site visits as needed.
- Take detailed notes, measurements, and photographs as needed.
- Collaborate on concept development, assembly, and presentations preparation.
Design Presentations
- Manage and organize product images, presentation materials, and samples.
- Create and maintain detailed design decks and supporting materials for client presentations.
Product Sourcing, Quoting & Pricing
- Assist in sourcing, specifying, and pricing furnishings, lighting, and materials.
- Communicate with vendors to obtain quotes and track orders.
- Ensure accuracy in vendor communications and documentation.
- Act as a secondary vendor liaison for assigned projects.
General Duties
- Manage CFAs and sample requests.
- Maintain client resources and selections library.
- Assist with errands, installations, and other project-related tasks as needed.
Qualifications & Experience
- 2+ years of interior design experience or formal training preferred.
- Degree in Interior Design or enrollment in an accredited program preferred.
- Strong understanding of design principles and construction documentation.
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable multitasking in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication, follow through, and teamwork skills.
- Experience with logistics and order tracking.
- Strong design sensibility and understanding of budgets and timelines.
- Proficiency with design and office software, including SketchUp, Adobe Creative Suite, Microsoft Office, and Canva.
Physical & Work Requirements
- Ability to work seated at a computer and on the phone for extended periods.
- Ability to navigate stairs and assist with on-site installations (including moving furniture and accessories) as needed.
- Occasional travel may be required for out-of-town or out-of-state projects.
Schedule
Monday–Friday, 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM (with flexibility for part-time arrangements)
Work Environment
Hybrid position — primarily in-person with some remote work flexibility.
Hourly range: $30/hr – $50/hr – based on experience.
