About the Role
We are a growing roofing company committed to the highest standards of safety, quality, and professionalism on every job site. We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Assistant Safety Coordinator to support our safety program, ensure compliance with OSHA and Cal/OSHA regulations, and promote a zero-incident culture across all our roofing projects. This field-based role involves daily travel to multiple job sites, serving as the primary on-site safety contact, and assisting in administrative safety tasks.
Key Responsibilities
• Serve as the main point of contact for safety-related matters on job sites, providing guidance to foremen, crews on safe work practices specific to roofing operations (e.g., fall protection, ladder safety, heat illness prevention, tool handling).
• Travel to multiple job sites per day throughout Southern California (and occasionally Northern California) to conduct safety observations, inspections, and audits.
• Write and submit clear, accurate reports, including daily safety logs, inspection reports, and incident reports.
• Investigate and document on the field accidents/incidents, prepare detailed incident reports, and communicate with workers’ compensation representatives or insurance as needed.
• Maintain inventory of safety supplies and PPE; distribute supplies to foremen and crews as required to ensure everyone has what they need.
• Assist in enforcing company safety policies and procedures, addressing violations immediately, and recommending corrective actions.
• Support safety training efforts, tailgate talks, and onboarding for new hires on roofing-specific hazards.
• Help ensure compliance with federal (OSHA), state (Cal/OSHA), and local safety regulations.
• Perform other safety-related duties as assigned to support the overall safety team and operations.
Qualifications & Requirements
• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
• Willingness and ability to travel extensively throughout Southern California, with occasional trips to Northern California.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills for report writing, interacting with workers, foremen, and external parties (e.g., workers’ comp).
• Detail-oriented with good organizational skills for managing reports, inventory, and documentation.
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced, outdoor construction environment (roofing sites involve heights, weather exposure, and physical demands).
• Prior experience in construction, roofing, safety coordination, or a related field is preferred but not required, we will train the right candidate.
• Basic knowledge of OSHA/Cal/OSHA standards or willingness to learn quickly.
• Reliable, proactive, and safety-minded attitude with the ability to work independently.
