CalWest's client school, Pilgrim School, is seeking a thoughtful, experienced, and skilled educator to join our STEM Department with a primary focus on teaching Physics and Engineering. About Pilgrim School
Pilgrim School, founded in 1958, is an independent, co-educational, college preparatory day-boarding school for students in Preschool through Grade 12. The school is in Wilshire Center, 10 minutes from downtown Los Angeles, and attracts a student body as varied as the city's population. Pilgrim is the only accredited K-12 independent school within Los Angeles’s urban core, and has a population of 400 students and more than 100 faculty and staff members. The Secondary School at Pilgrim consists of the Middle School (grades 6-8) and High School (grades 9-12), with about 100 students in each.

Essential Qualities and Qualifications:
- Must love kids, especially high school students!
- Demonstrated success in the design of interactive and inquiry-based STEM lessons, units, projects, and assessments to ensure that all students can access and excel in the curriculum.
- Demonstrated ability to give strong feedback to students and parents about student learning.
- Strong desire for sustained professional learning in the teaching and learning of STEM based fields, and mastery-based (or standards-based) learning.
- Highly collaborative spirit and willingness to be a part of a team-oriented approach to learning across the school.
- Experience in mastery-based or standards-based grading and assessment methodologies is highly desired.
- Experience in teaching high school science, engineering, and/or mathematics is preferred.
- Ability to teach mathematics is also desired.
- Training in Project Lead the Way (PLTW) Engineering courses is desired. Otherwise, training will be provided in the summer.
- Single subject teaching credential in mathematics or science, and/or a Master’s degree in mathematics or science education are preferred.
- Experience teaching in an independent school is preferred.
