POSITION DESCRIPTION/DUTIES: This internship is intended to supplement a student’s field of study in Architecture or a related field. Under the supervision of Engineering staff, the intern will prepare design plans and specifications for an office space addition to a city-owned commercial building and take the plans through the plan check process with the goal of attaining approval from our Building and Safety Department. The intern will be responsible for production of design plans and documents and obtaining permits for the project. This is an excellent opportunity to build a resume with paid experience in preparing commercial plans and specifications and taking them through a plan check process. The work will be in a very pleasant office environment, site visits as necessary for measurements and field verifications, and trips to City Hall for plan submission.
QUALIFICATIONS: Candidates should be currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate accredited architecture or related school or program. Candidates must be reliable, responsible, detail oriented, have some experience in preparing residential or commercial plans (school work is acceptable), and possess good communication and organizational skills. Candidates must be proficient AutoCAD and be eligible to work in the United States.
