Interior Design Intern (Residential Interior Design)
Part-Time: 10 to 15 hours per week (flexibility in terms of scheduling days)
Jennifer Miller Studio, boutique Interior Design firm featured in AD, ELLE Decor and may other publications seeks a talented and motivated Interior Design student to assist our design team. This internship offers an excellent opportunity for students to work under the guidance of an Interior Design team and gain hands-on experience with a high-end residential design firm in a collaborative work environment. The ideal candidate will have some industry experience working in residential design.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
The primary role of the intern is to assist the JMS team during the design process by gathering and creating the required materials for projects including:
- Compose mood boards and inspiration images pertaining to projects
- Draft/AUTOCAD elevations, floor plans and furniture details as needed
- Maintain the fabric library, return samples to design center when needed
- Research new products and materials
- Assist in preparation for client meetings
- Call vendors for product pricing
- Follow-up on orders placed with lead times
- Maintain schedules and specifications
- Maintain project binders and baskets
- Assist with installations, coordinate deliveries and handle post installation follow-ups
- Assist in social media content and posting
SKILLS/REQUIREMENTS:
- Working on completing Interior Design or Architecture Degree
- Excellent presentation skills, including space planning and drawing
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, AutoCAD LT
- Social Media Savvy
- Ability to create Excel spreadsheets and Powerpoint Presentations
- Knowledge of Adobe Illustrator, In Design and Photoshop
- Knowledge of trade resources and vendors
