NewFilmmakers Los Angeles (NFMLA) is a small non-profit 501(c)(3) arts organization, comprising a total of 5 employees, that supports independent artists from around the world.
This early-career role is responsible for supporting the organization’s year-round initiatives and managing the NFMLA Monthly Film Festival’s industry and educational programming.
The position is primarily administrative and office-based, with approximately 4 days of on-site event-related work each month.
Responsibilities include daily maintenance and organization of records, follow-up and outreach via phone and email, scheduling, delegating tasks to volunteers, coordinating event-related logistics and materials, tracking and filing data, and general administrative duties.
Core Functions:
• Manage, plan, and execute industry-based programming, including monthly private sessions between executives and emerging filmmakers, public-facing conversations for our audience, and partner programming with key academic, governmental, and creative sector partners (approximately 150 sessions annually)
• Research, develop, and maintain contacts within the film and media industry
• Outreach to film industry professionals to secure their participation in our festival programs and special programs with our partners
• Communicate with filmmakers regarding festival industry programming and virtual orientation, and organize filmmaker mixers
• Collaborate with the Events & Programs Manager to manage educational programs for high school students and supervise students during these programs
• Work with partners to develop additional high school programming
• Manage and update the Industry Database on Airtable
• Write and submit grant proposals to support industry and educational programming at the organization
About:
• Reports to: Executive Director of NewFilmmakers Los Angeles (NFMLA)
• Start date: ASAP
• Salary: $58,000 (annual)
• Work week: 40 hours

Requirements:
• A passion for supporting independent filmmakers
• 1+ years of professional experience in the entertainment industry (preferred but not required)
• Associate’s or bachelor’s degree (preferred but not required)
• Strong drive, dedication, curiosity, and passion
• In-office position (not remote)
