You’ll work with the teams that create new computing system architectures needed to support emerging machine learning applications, internet of things (IoT) and edge computing that benefit millions of users. This program will give you the opportunity work on complex solutions to that address some of the world’s most complex technological challenges.
OVERVIEW
The Image Sensor Lab (ISL) at Samsung Semiconductor, Inc. focuses on the research and development of innovative image sensors and optical devices including low-power high-resolution depth and LiDAR sensors, ultra-compact spectroscopic elements, and advanced bio-inspired sensors and systems with cutting-edge features, high efficiency, and wide viewing-angle. The team aims at representing Samsung’s leadership in advanced sensor and imaging products. This is an exciting and unique opportunity for a talented and hard-working PhD student to get involved in envisioning, prototyping and implementing cutting-edge products with a growing team. Interns are expected to implement and research production-level imaging solutions in both hardware and software domain and writing patents.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Explore cutting-edge technologies for our products, responsibilities may include but not limited to:
  • Data acquisition and processing from prototype cameras
  • Evaluation and characterization of camera and sensor performance
  • Development, implementation, debug, evaluation of algorithms for real-time 2D/3D image processing and object recognition
  • Development, implementation of algorithms for 3D point cloud generation, image processing, noise reduction
  • Development, implementation of algorithms for 2D/3D image fusion
REQUIRED SKILLS 
  • Solid theoretical background in image processing, computer vision and machine learning
  • Excellent programming skills in C++, Matlab etc.
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Excellent problem solving skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • PhD students in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or relevant fields
PREFERED SKILLS
  • Understand hardware design concepts and camera architecture
  • Ability to debug both software and hardware
