Studio Corbeau is a boutique interior design firm based in Los Angeles. We serve national clients in the areas of retail, hospitality, workplace, and residential design.
As Construction Manager, you will be responsible for all aspects of construction execution for all studio projects. This is a fast-paced, deadline oriented position that requires great attention to detail, superior organizational skills, nuanced relationship and negotiating skills, excellent problem solving skills, well developed visual thinking ability, great attention to detail, strong work ethic, and excellent customer service proficiency.

Success in this position is less about construction experience than it is about a certain mindset, energy, and attitude. The role requires travel a minimum of 50% of the time, managing nationwide projects that require very high standards of execution. When not traveling the candidate is required to conduct business from our West Hollywood Studio.
Job Duties
- Participate in design development process with design team
- Review and redline all construction documents, shop drawings, and submittals
- Review client lease drafts
- Research construction requirements with landlords and ensure understanding of landlord process
- Manage permit consultants
- Obtain bids from contractors, level bids, and make recommendations to client
- Assist clients in execution of AIA contracts between contractor and client
- Interview and recommend a site super and project manager for each project
- Source vendors and obtain bids for owner supplied items
- Prepare orders for client approval
- Collaborate with design & operations team to ensure timely delivery of all millwork, signage package, and vendor-supplied items
- Manage projects by conducting weekly progress calls with each general contractor
- Communicate daily with general contractors to ensure projects are on time and on budget
- Ensure general contractors are monitoring lead times on all contractor supplied items
- Quickly escalate any issues that might require additional input or oversight and impact the schedule or design intent
- Answer RFIs daily
- Ensure site visit reports are posted for clients, weekly
- Publish vendor delivery schedules, and update project schedules weekly
- Track and update capital expenditure budgets for each project weekly
- Conduct site visits, as necessary (4-5 per project), in order to successfully manage the project schedule and verify high quality of construction execution
- Prepare site visit reports from each site visit
- Review & qualify all contractor change orders and communicate weekly to the client for approval
- Ensure all punch-list items are completed by the contractor before turnover date
- Facilitate the timely completion of closeout package submission from the contrator, and provide the required documents to the client
